1. Keep an Open Mind
Learn how to value other customs and lifestyles, that are different than your own. Listen to opinions you disagree with. Don’t assume that only your way of thinking is valid. Accept other possibilities, opportunities and people
2. Try not to go to the typical tourist attractions
Explore places that are difficult to reach. Like campgrounds and beaches that aren’t typically visited or packed with tourists. Take the time to walk around the city; simply get lost in pedestrian passageways and local markets. Make your trip a unique and personal experience, and make sure you have some specific goals that relate to your own interests.
3. Say yes like never before.
Getting out of your comfort zone will enrich your life.
Say yes to invitations to eat at someone’s house, or to take part in sharing traditional food, culture, and places you now nothing about…

Be careful of your body language and gestures.
Some cultures/people are very aware of their personal space and feel uncomfortable shaking hands, hugging or kissing when greeting.
5. Keep in contact with your family and friends back home.
Keep them up to date with everything happening in your life and tell them when you arrive at your destination or when you are thinking of coming home
Each person’s travels are different and unique, as well as the lessons they have learned along the way, so share your experiences with the people you love.
